Out of court settlement reached in BHeC chief executive dismissal case
The former chief executive of the Bermuda Health Council has settled her court battle against her ex-employer.
Counsel for the BHeC told the Court of Appeal yesterday that a settlement had been reached with Tawanna Wedderburn, who had launched a court battle against her termination in December 2018.
The end of her 11-year tenure was said by the health council at the time as a “separation of employment”.
Juliana Snelling, lawyer for the health council, told Justice of Appeal Sir Maurice Kay that the sides had come to an agreement in “the early hours of this morning”.
Ms Snelling said the appeal was “dismissed with no order as to costs, because the parties have resolved matters among them”.
Ms Wedderburn launched an appeal after the Supreme Court turned down her request for a judicial review of her case.
Charles Richardson, the lawyer representing David Burt, the Premier, and Kim Wilson, the Minister of Health, confirmed the agreement during the brief hearing.
Ms Snelling and Ricky Brathwaite, the chief executive of the health council, declined to comment afterwards.
