Face masks are the new “must have” accessory. And for those who want to show a touch of style while rocking the look, Coral Coast has a colourful and very Bermudian selection. There is no Cup Match cricket this summer, but you can still show your allegiance to Somerset or St George’s by sporting either the red or blue face mask that features images of wickets in motion.Alternatively, you could opt for the “Vibe” mask featuring a lion’s face, a general Bermuda-themed mask, or classic all black or all white masks.Coral Coast branched into the face-mask business when the manufacturer of its recycled swim trunks said it was switching production to make unique face masks. The switch happened at the same time that Coral Coast was trying to help Bermuda Janitorial Supply Ltd source reusable masks for its workforce.Once the decision was made to start the line the next question was what would be the design. A company spokesman said: “The one common theme was it had to be Bermudian. With that thought we wanted to engage local creatives.”Coral Coast reached out to the social-media group Bermemes to collaborate, and this led to the Bermuda mask.“We’ve been working with Cosmic on a variety of creative projects, and Sean Collier was keen to donate his services to support our initiative.“From there the 2020 Bermuda masks collection was born.”The collection includes the East and West Cup Match face masks with wicket images and an “E” to represent Emancipation Day.There is also the Bermuda mask with geometric patterns that appear on Coral Coast shirts; the Vibe mask represents strength, which Coral Coast said Bermuda has shown in abundance. All white and all black, plain design masks are also available. The masks are reusable, washable and adjustable.Coral Coast’s store on Front Street is operating reduced hours from 11am to 3pm.The spokesman said: “We have noticed that consumers, while still being allowed to physically browse, they would rather do it virtually and call in the order for pick up or simply have it delivered to their house. “We were lucky when the pandemic hit in that we already had a world class website in place with detailed product images, a ton lifestyle pictures with an easy to use interface.”The Coral Coast face masks can be bought in the shop or collected on pick-up.The masks are also available for delivery with the Sargasso Sea app under the Bermuda Janitorial Supply Ltd store, and from Terceira’s service stations on North Shore, St John’s Road, East Broadway and in Warwick.• Bulk orders of the masks are available by calling 295-9795.
