The Bank of Bermuda Foundation today asked for applications from the public to join its four grant review committees. The charitable foundation said it wanted its board, staff and review committees to better reflect the diversity of the island. Allison Towlson, the charitable foundation’s managing director, said: “We need expertise and experience that enhances our theory of change work, that will serve to enrich and inform our decision making.“Diverse perspectives will support our goal of placing equity at the forefront of our decision making.”The foundation said it wanted a cross section of age, race, ethnic origin, gender, sexual orientation, disability and socio-economic backgrounds. The four committees, which meet three times a year, examine grant applications. The areas covered are education, healthy families, economic participation and connected communities. The foundation said it had introduced term limits and reviewed potential conflicts of interest and wanted at least seven people on each committee, which meant a need for ten new members.It added the recruits should be available to join committees before the September 30 grant cycle started.Applicants should e-mail their CVs to kim.pratt@butterfieldgroup.com by July 17.
