The cancellation of the Annual Exhibition this year did not deter an estimated 4,000 people from visiting the Botanical Gardens on Saturday after the SPCA stepped in and staged its fair.

The sun permitted people of all ages and their trusty dogs to partake in all the activities the fair had to offer.

The day was filled with all kinds of different events to amuse children and adults.

Four-year-old Taj Outerbridge did not want to leave the fair because he was enjoying the arts and crafts corner so much.

"I made a bird feeder ? it is an apple covered with seeds," he said.

He also helped to feeding the goats.

Youngsters Jahni Lynch, Zaia Scott, and Kiazha Scott all raved about the arts and crafts corner, proudly showing off their colourful creations.

The day dedicated to the well being of animals began at 10 a.m. with a parade of dog breeds by the Bermuda All Breed Club. The Police K9 Unit followed giving the audience a display of how the crime fighting dogs operate.

Dogs who were adopted from the SPCA ? also known as "SPCA specials" ? paraded around the main ring.

A dressage demonstration was given by Alison Dyer-Fagundo to music by Beyonce, Sean Paul, and Britney Spears upon her mount Princess Desiree.

The dog-training group, Good Dog 101, performed agility displays with 22 dogs, and whippet racing. Out of the 22 dogs that went through the agility course two went clear.

The owner of Good Dog 101, Vincent Madeiros said: "We enjoy helping out the SPCA. We both enjoy helping out dogs and animals."

Good Dog 101 provides agility, household, and obedience training to dogs and their owners. and has up to 50 dogs in the agility group.

Next up in the main ring was Janice Moran and her big black poodle Zorro, the dancing dog. Ms Moran and her dog performed a dance together for the audience.

SPCA volunteer Doreen Blee participated in the dog parade with her "SPCA special", Peeper, a lively little black and white dog. Ms Blee nursed Peeper back to health because he was in poor shape when she took him home.

She said: "This is my first event volunteering with the SPCA and I will definitely do it again. It is for a worthwhile cause."

The fair also provided two fun castles and a few educational booths by dog wardens, Dolphin Quest, Cat Fanciers, International Dog Events Association (IDEA), Dog Training Club, and Bermuda Feline Assistance Bureau (BFAB).
