Building a high performance team will be the focus for a seminar held at the Bermuda Insurance Institute later this week.

The one-day seminar, which will take place on Friday April 24 and run in association with Paul Loftus & Associates Inc., aims to improve team identity to help with sharing, interacting and problem solving within the team.

Throughout the course there will be an emphasis on hands-on diagnostic and self-assessment instruments and simulations, complemented by some videos of teams in action.

Attendees will learn how teams develop and the roles that need to be performed to be successful, different decision-making methods, how to obtain synergy in teams, how to assess team effectiveness, what problems to avoid in teambuilding efforts and how to stay focused on team objectives.

The programme will start with an introduction focusing on the advantages and disadvantages of teams, stages and elements of team development and teamwork, followed by a team exercise of building a tower, before looking at role functions in a team and ground rules and then a teambuilding simulation survival exercise.
