American Watson wins marathon; Biwot does the double

America's Luke Watson this morning won the men's marathon in a time of 2.22.49.Second and third were Ethiopians Teklu Deneke and Derreje Hailegiorgis who both took a wrong turn after mistaking the meaning of a sign.Watson said: "When I saw the two Ethiopians take a wrong turn I knew it was important to put in a good five miles in the second half of the loop. That was the turning point."Earlier Shadrack Biwot did the double as he cantered to a win in the half-marathon.He crossed the line in 1:07.15, apparently hardly looking out of breath. Yesterday he won the 10K.Biwot said: "Another great day, another great race, I came out with the intentionsof winning and it was great to win two races in a row."Tania Jones, from Ontario, won the women's half-marathon. Her time was 1:28.55.The men's top three half-marathon runners were Biwot (Kenya) 1:07.14, Mergersa (Ethiopia) 1:09 and Lagat (Kenya) 1:09.30The top three women's Half-Marathon finishers were Canada's Tania Jones (1.28.55), Bermuda's Deon Breary (1.33.06) and Kristal Lederer (1:33.31)Check out our live commentary.
