The Deloitte Scholarship 2011 recipient Shakia Hayward

Deloitte & Touche Ltd has announced the 2011 Deloitte Scholarship award recipient as Shakia Hayward and the 2011 Deloitte Bursary award recipient as Travis Trott.The Deloitte Scholarship, valued at $15,000 per annum for up to two years, involves a competitive selection process including a written application and intensive interviews.Ms Hayward studied at the Berkeley Institute before moving to Saltus Grammar School for her senior year at the SGY programme. She has just started her final year at Berkley College in New York City where she is pursuing a degree in business with a major in Business Management and a minor in Accounting.Ms Hayward is due to graduate next year and hopes to continue her education at Berkley College to complete her Masters’ degree in Accounting. She aims to obtain her CPA designation after completing her studies.Deloitte has also awarded a bursary to Mr Trott for $5,000. Mr Trott graduated from Warwick Academy and has just completed his first year at the University of the West of England, Bristol and is pursuing a degree in business with a double major in Accounting and Finance.The goal of the Deloitte Scholarship and the Deloitte Bursary is to give Bermudian students assistance in the funding of their education as well as hands on, practical experience. Both recipients have also been offered positions with the Deloitte Exclusive Experience Program (DEEP) for the summer of 2012.The Deloitte Scholarship is presented annually to a Bermudian student interested in pursuing a career in accounting or financial services.For more information visit www.deloitte.bm
