Douglas to officiate in Singapore

Bermuda’s Steven Douglas has been selected to officiate at the ICC WCL Division 5 Tournament to be played in Singapore next month.The tournament, which runs from February 18 to 25, will see six teams including Argentina, Bahrain, Cayman Islands, Guernsey, Malaysia and hosts Singapore compete for the top two spots in the competition.Only the winner and runner up gain promotion to the ICC World Cricket League Division 4 to be held later this year.“I would like to congratulate Steven on his selection to officiate at the Division 5 Tournament,” said Bermuda Cricket Board president Lloyd Fray.“In May last year Steven umpired at the ICC WCL Division 7 Tournament in Botswana and his recent selection to the Division 5 tournament is a testament to his credibility at the international level.“This is a great opportunity for Steven to work with other high level umpires to return to Bermuda to share his experiences with local officials.”The Bermuda Cricket Umpire’s Associations stated: “The BCUA is delighted at Steven’s appointment to stand in the ICC WCL Division 5 tournament in Singapore and this is one more step in the pathway of our umpires’ career development.“This marks another opportunity to showcase on the international stage the excellent quality of our local officials.“In being exposed to the mentorship offered by ICC Elite Umpire Tony Hill, Steven is well positioned to further uplift his colleagues and local cricket during the coming season. Have a successful tournament Steven.”Douglas, who has vast international umpiring experience, will also be joined by Tony Hill of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Umpires.
