Butterfield promoted to manager by Meyer Freight

Meyer Group of Companies has announced the promotion of George Butterfield to the new position of manager, Meyer Freight. Mr Butterfield is now responsible for Meyer Freight operations and will report to Joe Simas, vice-president of marine operations.“With four years of sales and marketing experience with Meyer Freight and with more than 25 years in the industry, George Butterfield brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Meyer Freight team,” said Mr Simas.“George will lead a team that has expert knowledge in all aspects of freight, import and export. We look forward to Meyer Freight’s continued success under George’s management.”According to the company, Mr Butterfield has worked in several aspects of freight and shipping. He was freight manager with John S Darrell & Co, Ltd, ship’s agent with Meyer Shipping, and a Customs Officer with HM Customs.In his new role, Mr Butterfield will continue to focus on quality customer service on behalf of the two Freight lines Meyer represents Bermuda International Shipping Ltd. (BISL), which represents MV Bermuda Islander that sails into Bermuda each week from Salem, New Jersey and Somers Isle Shipping Ltd (SISL), which represents the MV Somers Isles that sails out of Port Fernandina, Florida.“Having over 25 years of experience in the shipping industry has prepared me for this challenge” said Mr Butterfield. “Especially in these challenging economic times, my efficient team and I will provide our customers with the most economical ways of importing their cargo. It’s a privilege and an honour to be given this responsibility.”
