Jesse and Zander Kirkland (Sailing)
Years of sacrifice, perseverance and hard work culminated in Olympic qualification for local sailing siblings Jesse and Zander Kirkland.
The Kirklands, who are coached by former top British 49er sailor Mark Asquith, achieved their Olympic dream after finishing ninth at the recent 49er World Championships in Croatia.
Like swimmer Burch, the Kirklands have also taken time to familiarise themselves with the Olympic venue.
In a bid to boost their chances of success, the Kirklands competed at the recent Skandia Sail at the Olympic sailing venue in Weymouth, where they reacquainted themselves with heavy air racing.
