Gun murder victim Jason Smith
Friends of gun murder victim Jason Smith are holding two fundraisers in his memory.
The first is a seven-a-side football tournament on Saturday between 12pm and 5pm on Saltus School Field, when 16 teams will take part. Admission is $1.
The following Saturday, July 7, will see a family fun day, also on the Saltus field, from 12pm to 6pm. The event will feature seven-a-side soccer finals at 2.30pm, plus face painting, crown and anchor, fun relays, a bouncy castle, games and refreshments. Admission is $2.
Both events have been organised by the Live Free Foundation, which was set up by Saltus graduates in memory of Mr Smith, 22, who was shot dead on Overview Hill, Pembroke, on May 1, 2011. His killer has never been caught.
All proceeds will go to Live Free and the Big Brothers, Big Sisters charity. For more information, e-mail livefreejay@gmail.com.
