Insurance CEOs to gather next week at BII conference

President of the Bermuda Insurance Institute, Chris Fisher has gathered the industry's top executives for the year's Underwriting Conference next week

The upper echelon of Bermuda’s re/insurance industry will come together for a two-day conference next week to discuss how the market here can retain its competitive edge.CEOs and senior executives from many of the Island’s large re/insurers and brokerages will speak at the Bermuda Insurance Underwriting Conference, including Patrick Tannock of XL, Reese Fletcher of Ace, Tom Hulst of Ariel Re, Dinos Iordanou of Arch Capital Group, Terry Pimental of Arch Insurance, Jerry Rivers of OIL and David Valzania of Chartis Bermuda.This is the second year the Bermuda Insurance Institute has hosted the conference.“Following the successful launch of the Bermuda Insurance Underwriting Conference in 2011 and in response to feedback from delegates attending that event, it was vital that the BII ensure that another conference be launched in 2012”, remarked Chris Fisher, president of the Bermuda Insurance Institute.Some of the conference discussion topics include, customer perspectives on Bermuda’s underwriting, shifting liabilities and the casualty market, building competitive advantages in professional lines and the latest developments in the energy market. There will also be a CEO and executive rountables as well as a panel featuring chief underwriting officer.He added: “It seemed that insurance market professionals in Bermuda were seeking an opportunity to discuss relevant industry matters among their local peers and across product lines. That feedback has influenced the two-day 2012 conference agenda which is filled with great content that day to day practitioners in the insurance industry will hopefully find invaluable.”C-suite members of Bermuda’s brokerage firms will also speak including Christopher Reeves of Bowring Marsh, Joe Rego from Aon, Paul Scope from JLT Park and Michael Fisher from Integro.“Conference delegates will hear from close to 40 speakers who represent major product lines in Bermuda,” said BII President Mr Fisher. “Some of the most senior industry executives and leaders from a cross-section of Bermuda’s international insurance and broking firms are making time to address industry delegates.
