Police were called after two Gombey troupes got into a confrontation in Pembroke on Saturday night.

According to a police spokesman, officers were called to a “fracas” around 10.25pm on the corner of Curving Avenue and St Augustine’s Hill.

“Upon police arrival it was ascertained that two different Gombey troupes met up, as often happens during the holiday season, and a small altercation took place. Eventually, calm heads prevailed and the troupes, their supporters and followers eventually went their own separate ways without further incident,” he said.

The spokesman added that there was no report of any arrests. He was unable to state which Gombey troupes were involved.
