Lambe looks to hit the ground running under Nelson

Bermuda international Reggie Lambe is determined to make a strong impression on new Toronto FC manager Ryan Nelson.QPR defender Nelson was recently named head coach of Toronto FC, replacing Paul Mariner to become the club's eighth head coach in their six-year history.Speaking at the club’s media day, Lambe said he expected Nelson to his stamp his mark on Toronto’s style of play.“Having a new manager come in is kind of difficult to adjust to but at the same time he is implementing his new techniques on the team so it should be good to get started.”“We’ll be working hard to close down faster. That’s basically the main thing, everyone closing down as a team. I think his (Nelsen) motto is 11 players, one mind or something like that — so it should be good.”Lambe started 22 games last season, scoring two goals and claiming three assists, but he aims to make a bigger contribution in the coming campaign.“I want to double my goal tally at least, if I can. That would be good for me.”He added: “I definitely feel more confident coming back into this season compared to last season. I’m more used to the environment and being in the MLS so it should be a quick adjustment once the season gets started.”The former Ipswich winger hopes to create plenty of scoring opportunities for the likes of ex-Holland striker Danny Koevermans and French forward Eric Hassli.Lambe said: “Everything’s new, just adjusting to new people nice and fast, it should be easy.“Danny’s coming back (from injury) pretty soon — I can’t wait for that. I’m just looking forward to getting crosses in the box for these guys to head or especially for Hassli to volley, because he likes to do that.”Lambe admitted the freezing temperatures in Toronto had come as a shock to the system.“Coming here there is so much snow and traffic I didn’t really want to get out of bed (this morning) I’d love it if we relocated to Bermuda!” he said.Nelsen takes over a club that has never made the play-offs and finished last term with a poor 5-21-8 league record.
