Opposition leader to give Throne Speech reply today

  • r Marc Bean

Marc Bean is set to deliver his maiden speech this morning as the new Leader of the Official Opposition.

Mr Bean will deliver the Progressive Labour Party’s formal Reply to the Throne Speech, which was read by the Governor last week.

His task has a unique challenge as he has already denounced the speech as primarily a continuation of the former administration’s policies.

And the moment is a bittersweet one for the PLP with reports that Terry Lister will make his own speech announcing his resignation from the party.

A debate on the Throne Speech is scheduled to take up much of the day.

Also on the Order Sheet is a resolution to cut cabinet Ministers’ salaries by ten percent, and a motion to reject the elimination of work permit term limits.
