The Sea Dragon: Flotilla will join the boat on Sunday

On Sunday, May 26, Bermuda Alliance for Sargasso Sea (BASS) invite all boaters to join the Heritage Weekend Flotilla of boats and the Spirit of Bermuda to escort the Sea Dragon out of Hamilton at 10am. The Sea Dragon will be departing Bermuda for the first of two Sargasso Sea expeditions and the flotilla route will depart from Hamilton along the North Shore to the Channel off of St George’s. Participation is free and you can sign up by e-mailing bookings.bzs@gov.bm.Good news for fans of local literature as Bermudian author Angela Barry will be reading her short story, “Whale Watching”, in St Peter’s Church in St George’s on Sunday, May 26. Angela’s most recent book, “Gorée: Point of Departure”, which traces the story of the Atlantic slave trade through a complex family history, won the Brian Burland Prize for Fiction in the 2012 Bermuda Literary Awards. This event is open to players and spectators alike. You are invited to bring your favourite wine, snacks and blanket or beach chair, as well as your pétanque balls, if you have them. L’Alliance Française will provide baguettes, cheese and snacks for the children, as well as the chance to win a basket full of French specialities by guessing its weight. The minimum fee to enter the raffle is $10 and additional donations will also be welcome!
