Ironshore COO Mitch Blaser: Taking over as interim CEO of Iron-Starr Excess

Iron-Starr Excess Agency Ltd chief executive officer Stuart Anderson is to step down, as he is to relocate from Bermuda for personal reasons.Mitch Blaser, chief operating officer of Ironshore, co-owner of the business, will serve as interim CEO of Iron-Starr, Ironshore announced yesterday, while the company searches for new permanent new boss.Iron-Starr is a joint venture between Ironshore and Maurice (Hank) Greenberg’s CV Starr & Co that was formed in 2009 as a specialty lines insurance managing general underwriting agency, domiciled in Bermuda.Mr Anderson succeeded Geoff Smith as CEO in February last year.A spokesperson for Ironshore, whose headquarters are at Seon Place, on Front Street, said Mr Anderson was leaving the Island for “personal/family reasons” and would return home to Vancouver. However, the company added that Mr Anderson will “continue to work closely with Ironshore in cooperation with the Ironshore Executive Management team on strategic initiatives for the remainder of the year”.Mr Blaser said: “From an operational perspective, the Iron-Starr team is committed to business as usual and looks forward to continued and growing support from its colleagues and clients.”Kevin Kelley, CEO of Bermuda-based Ironshore, said: “On behalf of my colleagues, we thank Stuart for his contributions and dedication to Iron-Starr. He leaves Iron-Starr with a strong and talented underwriting and claims team, led by Eric Kittleson, Steve Horton, Susan Pateras, and Lawrence Engrissei. We wish Stuart all the best.”
