A manhunt has ensued following an assault on a female police sergeant in St George’s.A police spokesman said the officer was thrown to the ground and hit her head after responding to a call for assistance in the Anchorage Lane area this morning.Added Police Inspector David Geraghty: “Upon arrival officers spoke to a 56-year-old male in relation to the incident. When they spoke to him he became belligerent and violent. He assaulted one of the officers and made good his escape.”Officers are now searching for the suspected assailant in the surrounding area of Anchorage Lane and the Co-Ed Facility in Ferry Reach, St George’s.The assaulted officer was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment.
