US specialist to address addiction group
A US addiction specialist will this weekend address the Duperreault Fellowship — a group dedicated to boosting the treatment skills of drug and alcohol counsellors.
Michael Herbert, a US clinician currently attached to Florida’s Delray Recovery Centre, is billed as a “seasoned interventionist and an accomplished expert in addiction counselling, self-help methods, aftercare programs and the implementation of drug abuse prevention strategies”.
He will speak before the Duperreault Fellowship at a luncheon in the Hamilton Princess Hotel on Sunday.
According to a spokesperson, Mr Herbert tours the US discussing topics such as “addiction in families, men’s issues in recovery, and wealth, power and fame in addiction”.
“Michael speaks from experience, as he has spent over two decades on his own personal recovery journey,” said the spokesperson.
The Duperreault Fellowship is a leadership training programme focused on educating and training addiction professionals on the island.
