Proud new parents Paige Belvin and Aaron Eversley got a Christmas Day surprise: their first baby, London Adam Belvin-Eversley, arrived early at 9.37am, weighing 9lbs, six-and-a-half ounces.

“He has his first Christmas outfit on,” Ms Belvin said, holding her sleeping son cradled against her arm.

The two were resting easy in King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

Admitting the early arrival of her baby had come as a complete surprise, Ms Belvin said she’d gone into labour at 2.30am on Christmas Eve.

London, the Somerset couple’s “big boy with a big city name” had been expected on January 3.

Ms Belvin said they’d named their firstborn after London just out of a fondness for the unconventional name. His middle name is in memory of Ms Belvin’s late brother.

“We’ll have to find something unique to celebrate his birthday,” Ms Belvin added. “We celebrated Christmas early on my side of the family — we didn’t expect this, so everyone’s coming to see him and hang out first thing in the morning.”

Mr Eversley, who was there at the hospital to see his son born, had left to get home ready.

For now, the happy new mother was content to wait on a delivery of Christmas dinner from her sister Kim.
