Do you have what it takes to be the next Bermuda Idol?

Do you have the singing chops to be the next Bermuda Idol? If so organisers are calling on you to follow in the footsteps of past winners like Latosha Coddrington and Larrita Adderley.

They will be holding auditions to find the island’s next big talent on Saturday, February 1, between noon and 3pm, at HOTT 107.5FM radio station, located on Union Street, Hamilton.

Gwen Blakeney, the radio station’s Managing Director, said this could be the year that a male singer takes home the $3,000 grand prize.

“There has never been a male winner — and this may be the year depending on the quality of males that enter,” she said.

The radio station has been flooded with calls from people interested in taking part in the auditions. Mrs Blakeney said: “We started promoting the invitation to audition on New Year’s Day, to get folks excited and to give potential contestants plenty advance time to prepare for the auditions.

“We are delighted to provide such a wonderful opportunity for those that feel they have the talent to compete.

“Any Bermudian or spouse of a Bermudian is invited to audition, whether young or not so young, experienced or inexperienced, regardless their backgrounds, feel free to step up and show your stuff during the February 1st auditions at HOTT.”

The Bermuda Idol show will take place at the Ruth Seaton James Centre for Performing Arts on Saturday, March 15.

It is considered the biggest local talent competition and keeps growing thanks to the generous support from corporate sponsors, Mrs Blakeney said. They will be handing out close to $6,000 in total prize money this year.
