Scraders and Oatley qualify for Carifta

Two more athletes reached qualifying standards for the Carifta Games in Martinique during a Bermuda National Athletic Association track meet at the National Sports Centre on Saturday.

Kyrah Scraders and Daniel Oatley qualified in their respective events, Scraders in the under-18 800?metres and Oatley in the under-18 3,000?metres.

Scraders recorded a time of 2min 16.69sec to get within the standard of 2:17, while Oatley was almost three seconds faster than the qualifying mark of 10:00 for his event, with 9:47.07 Tiara DeRosa, who qualified for the discus last weekend, had a throw of 12.60 metres, which again surpassed the standard of 11.83.

Six athletes have now qualified for the Games, which will be held from April 18 to 21, with Dage Minors achieving the qualifying mark in the 800?metres a few weeks ago. Minors’s 1:53.48 was well inside the qualifying standard of 1:57.5.

Sakari Famous and Jahnai Perinchief, in the under-18 boys high jump, are the other qualifiers.
