Dill sets personal best

Strong start: Dill continued his encouraging start to the season at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational Indoor Meet

Shaquille Dill, the Bermuda middle distance runner, posted an impressive time in the 800 metres at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational Indoor Meet at Boston University at the weekend.

Dill, 20, finished the four-lap race in a time of one minute and 49.41 seconds — just two tenths of a second behind the winner — to claim second place and set a new indoor personal best.

“I felt really good. If I hadn’t been pushed a couple times during the race I believe I would have run a low 1:48,” said Dill, who won a silver medal at the 2012 Carifta Games in Bermuda.

Dage Minors also competed at the two-day meet, representing Franklin Pierce University, coming tenth in the mile event in 4:19.66.
