Refusing to provide a sample of breath for police resulted in one-year driving ban for a Sandys resident.

Jason Lambert, 40, of Middle Road, admitted the December 2, 2013 offence, which carries the same penalty as driving while impaired.

Magistrates’ Court heard Lambert was seen by police trying to start a stationary motorcycle shortly before 3am on Mangrove Bay Road.

Lambert, who admitted to drinking that night, said the bike had broken down. He was arrested after refusing a demand for breath.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo fined him $1,000 and disqualified him from driving all vehicles for one year.
