Bike crash rider fails breath test

A motorcyclist who police watched nearly crash into a wall was arrested after failing a breath test.

Police officers on Middle Road in Warwick shortly before midnight on Friday noticed a woman on a motorcycle travelling west near Spicelands Riding School. They saw the woman was riding erratically and nearly collided with a wall.

“Officers then stopped the motorcycle a few moments later,” a police spokesman said. “At that point they noticed the female rider’s breath smelled of intoxicants, she was unsteady on her feet and her speech was slurred.”

The rider was arrested on suspicion of driving while impaired and subsequently failed an alco-analyser test at Hamilton Police Station.
