An Island road race with a reputation for quick times is back on Sunday — and there is an added incentive of $250 for the first runner to cross the finish line.

The Swan’s Running Club’s “5 Flat Miles” is well known for its almost completely flat route, which starts outside the West Pembroke Primary School and finishes at the Shelly Bay parking lot in Hamilton Parish.

Sean Trott won last year’s race in 27min 57sec, while first woman Rose-Anna Hoey also impressed as she broke 30 minutes.

There are prizes for the top three in the various age divisions and also for the first three walkers home. The five-mile walk starts at 8.30am, with runners setting off at 9am.

Entries can be made at Sportseller, in Washington Mall, and also online at www.racedayworld.com.

Race numbers can be picked up on Saturday from noon until 2pm at Sportseller, when late entries will also be accepted.
