Ross Curtis: To become RenRe's new CUO

Bermuda reinsurer RenaissanceRe Holdings Ltd will relocate Ross Curtis from London to Bermuda this summer to become the company’s chief underwriting officer.

Mr Curtis is currently active underwriter of RenaissanceRe Syndicate 1458 at Lloyd’s and will move to the Island when he takes over as CUO, effective July 1, 2014.

The post is currently held by president and chief executive officer Kevin O’Donnell.

In his new role, Mr Curtis will be responsible for directing RenaissanceRe’s underwriting strategy, activities, and teams across all regions and platforms to ensure the highest levels of consistency and customer service.

Bryan Dalton, senior vice-president, will take over as active underwriter of Syndicate 1458 through the balance of 2014, subject to regulatory approval. Mr Dalton has been with RenRe for more than 12 years and has most recently been responsible for international and worldwide retrocessional markets.

The company added that during this year, David Marra will relocate to the Connecticut office, where he will continue to lead the development of the US specialty reinsurance business as president of RenaissanceRe Underwriting Managers US LLC.

Mr Marra will remain SVP and CUO — casualty and specialty for RenRe Holdings and will be responsible for the establishment and oversight of underwriting policy and deployment of capital allocated to the company’s specialty business.

Mr O’Donnell said: “I am pleased to announce the promotion of Ross to chief underwriting officer and acknowledge his many contributions over the past 15 years in both an underwriting and strategic capacity.”
