CedarBridge Academy’s student government holds first leadership conference

CedarBridge Academy Student Government Association hosted its first conference in the Ruth Seaton James Hall yesterday.

The theme was “Raising Students Voice Participation”. The conference was designed to ensure that students of CedarBridge Academy are able to voice their concerns and opinions in a safe and positive way.

Kjeld Mizpah Conyers Steede told us “this is the first youth conference aimed for youth created by the youth.

“We were educated about this strategy last year and this year at our International Leadership Conference in Washington, DC.

Kjeld Mizpah Conyers Steede went on to say “our mission for this conference is to voice and define issues that affect us on three fronts: internationally, Island-wide and throughout the school.

The Student Government Association is hoping to create possible resolutions and then publish their results.

The student Government Association will adopt issues related to the school in their action plan.”

The student leaders at the conference were: Aminah Simmons (S2), Shantel Ball (S2), Naimah Frith (S4), Taahira Butterfield (S4), Kevonte Jennings Lathan (S2), Kierra Lee (S4) and Naomi Lightbourne (S4).
