Watson returns for third term

BNAA president Donna Watson

Continuity has been ensured within the ranks of the Bermuda National Athletic Association with the Board of Directors all returning for another term during the association’s annual general meeting on Thursday night.

Donna Watson, the president of the BNAA, was returned for a third term, which would take her up the next Olympic Games in 2016 in Brazil, while Michele Williams returned as vice president, Freddie Evans as general secretary, Robert Oliver as treasurer, Angela Berry as legal and Paul Simons as the technical officer. Mia Black is a new director, filling a spot that was vacant.

“I’m so happy that all of the directors were returned as we have such a great team, all energetic and we get along so well,” Watson said. “I think with Troy [Douglas] as our National Coach we have all gelled so well and have the same vision and goals going forward and it would have been a shame to break that up.”

It is a busy year ahead for track and field with major overseas competitions such as the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in July-August, the Youth Olympic Games in China in August and the CAC Games in Veracruz, Mexico, in November when Watson will act as Bermuda’s Chef de Mission.

She was also recently named as the organisational delegate for the North American, Central American and Caribbean [NACAC] Under-23 Track and Field Championships in Kamloops, British Columbia, in August.
