One of the Bermuda Folk Club’s most popular evenings of the year, Irish Night, returns this Saturday to celebrate the music of Ireland and beyond in the countdown to St Patrick’s Day.

In past years it has been standing room only at the club for the Irish-themed event, and an impressive collection of performers are lined-up to play this weekend.

International recording artist and singer-songwriter Justin Hines, from Canada, is due to take to the stage. Mr Hines has toured around the world and appeared on US television. He was born with a rare genetic joint condition called Larsen’s Syndrome and uses a wheelchair. He has been recognised for his extensive charitable work to help people with disabilities.

Mr Hines performed at a New Year’s Eve show at Niagra Falls in 2008 alongside former Supertramp singer Roger Hodgson.

Also lined up for Saturday’s show is Milton Villamarin, from Ecuador, local recording artist Michael Cacy, Jamie Lovell, Adam Melvin, classical guitarist Steve Crawford, Julie Lynas, Jeffery Marshall, Scott Neil, and the duo of Dawn Robinson and Alex Alferez.

Although it is Irish Night, there will be other songs thrown into the mix, with performers being asked to fit one Irish song into their repertoire.

The Bermuda Folk Club’s Irish Night takes place at the Spanish Point Boat Club, in Pembroke. Doors open at 7.30pm with music starting at 8pm.
