Roberts and Hunt set for play-off battle

Jevon Roberts and Fraser Hunt will have a two-hole play-off this morning to decide who is the number two seed after they both shot a 76 on the opening day of the Bermuda Amateur Match Play Championship at the Mid Ocean Golf Club.

While defending champion Jarryd Dillas is the number one seed and will play in the second round of the competition, the draw will be confirmed after the two square off on the 17th and 18th holes.

In total, seven ties will be played in the opening round of the men’s division, with Dillas entering the championships once the first round has been completed.

The men’s section had 20 players, with the four who did not qualify set to play a round robin over the next three days.

Ebonie Burgess grabbed the number one seed for the women’s division with her round of 75, which has 13 competitors.

The top three seeds, Burgess, Katrin Burnie, and defending champions Ann Symonds, have byes to the next round. In the Senior Championship, Craig Christensten had a strong round with an impressive gross 73.

The championship wraps up on Saturday with a 36-hole final to determine the winners of the three categories.
