Tynes Bay: New contract awarded to BESCO

Bermuda Energy Services Company Ltd (BESCO) has won the Government maintenance contract for the fire protection and detection system at the Tynes Bay Waste Treatment Facility, following a contract tender process.

The company announced yesterday that the contract covers the supply of labour, materials, equipment and supervision necessary to provide maintenance, inspection, testing and related repair services to the fire protection and detection systems at the Palmetto Road facility.

BESCO was responsible for the initial installation of the fire detection system, and they have conducted other work at the facility including electrical upgrades of the boiler streams and precipitators.

Bryan Adams, president of BESCO said: “Our technical ability and experience in industrial environments, combined with previous work we have done at the facility, positions us well to effectively carry out this contract.”

Kirk Outerbridge, plant manager at Tynes Bay Waste Treatment Facility, said: “BESCO has not only the knowledge of the design and installation of the fire protection and detection systems, but they are also able to provide regular monitoring and maintenance. I am pleased to be working with them on these systems and have full confidence in their services.”
