Gone now to God, his final rest, In his enjoyment to be blest. Gone now to heaven, the seat of bliss, His pleasure in perfection is”.

Another plaque was placed there in 2007 by the Bermuda Branch Pilots reading: “Mr Darrell was an icon of national and nautical pride in the history of Bermuda. The Bermuda Branch pilots salute him as one of the pioneers of the craft as we know it today.

“He laid the foundation for many past, present, and future pilots alike, who navigate the coast and channels of these precious Isles. His Legacy will be deeply embedded in our hearts and minds. Blessed be the tides that bind us all”.

The ceremony will be held by his grave in St Peter’s churchyard in St George’s on April 12 at 5pm. Wreaths will be placed overboard at Murray’s Anchorage. Donations will be received for the care of the graveyard.
