Runners-up finish for Saints twins

Jordan Saints, pictured, and his twin brother Jason finished second in a race for Exeter University

Jordan and Jason Saints helped Exeter University to a second-place finish at the British University Match Racing Championship in Weymouth, England, at the weekend.

The Bermudian twins teamed up with Tarra Gill-Taylor in the Elliott 16s competition.

They lost to Southampton Solent University in the final of the three-day event.

“This was the best result Exeter has had in match racing since we had started university here,” Jason Saints said.

“It is my final year at university, so it was nice to achieve this. Given that we are a new team and never sailed together before, it is great.”

Facing Bristol University in the quarter-finals on Saturday, the trio won the first two races of the tie to advance to the semi-finals, where they took on Loughborough University.

The team had to be the first to three wins to advance to the final.

“The team had a close-matched final but are proud to have finished second,” Jason Saints added.

The Saints twins and Gill-Taylor are back in action this weekend in Glasgow, representing Exeter University at the UK University Team Racing Nationals.
