Who buys muffin tins at an airport?

New look: This picture taken in May 2012 shows Pulp & Circumstance's Chelsea Telford making adjustments to a shelf inside the store located at the LF Wade International Airport

April 4, 2014

Dear Sir,

As I write this I am sitting at the Bermuda airport, in disbelief, at what I can, and cannot, buy on the US side.

The old retail and duty free store was closed more than a year ago for refurbishment, and I was disappointed, but patient, at the time it took to refit. In the meantime we have had Pulp and Circumstance and the two cafes.

And now it is open!

The two new spaces, which look like they could have been redone in about two weeks, sell alcohol, and some tourist T-shirts, and that’s it.

Now we have that, two cafes, and Pulp and Circumstance. Which is fine if you want booze, some food to eat right there, some wrapping paper, shelves, or a silicon muffin tray.

I can’t say I have ever bought any of the last three at an airport, but luckily we have a store here that takes up most of the retail space in the terminal in case I change my mind. Things that I cannot buy, but might like to, and generally do buy at airports are; newspapers, magazines, tissues, books, headphones, chargers, Tylenol, wipes, cereal bars or travel appropriate, or even healthy food.

Who is running this and have they ever travelled?

How about a concession from Buzz or Phoenix? Most all of the flights that come in turn right around and don’t restock food here. Let’s think about the passengers a bit please. If the stores here can’t think for themselves, maybe whoever is granting the retail leases should think for them.

Kind regards
