FBI need to check food prices

March 24, 2014

Dear sir,

The FBI’s main goal is to protect and defend the United States and to uphold and enforce the criminal laws of the United States, according to Wikipedia.

FBI agents know how to crack very complex mysteries. They are the specialists of investigations.

Speaking of mysteries, there’s a few I’ve been trying to solve for about a year or two now. I think I need the FBI.

As I pace the aisles of a well known supermarket chain week by week, leads are fruitless as to why the items are getting smaller and smaller but yet the prices are getting higher and higher. I tell you it is a mystery.

Just the other day my stress levels escalated as I spent almost an hour carrying a “basket” trying to locate the “non-inflation” aisle; needless to say — I was unsuccessful. I eventually left the store with paid items that I could count on one hand. Prior to, I glanced at the monitor attached to another register and saw a bill well over $100. The items were packed neatly in two brown paper bags with plenty of extra space. I don’t understand. I tell you it’s a mystery.

So Mr Editor, in the light of the fact that we are already living in perilous times, I believe those of us who are feeling the pinch of the recession don’t need any additional stresses especially when it comes to purchasing food.

Having said that I think we need the FBI. I am not talking about the Federal Bureau of Investigation but rather the Food Bureau of Investigation. Maybe they can make some headway regarding the aforementioned unsolved mysteries. Perhaps they can enforce some food and pricing laws which need to be established.

I strongly believe the prices of petrol, perhaps they should consider regulating the supermarkets as it relates to their prices. I’m just saying. I think it’s well overdue that the people of Bermuda be afforded some protection as it relates to these offensive costs.
