Assure the people

April 7, 2014

Dear Sir,

As a person who was born, went to school and married on the Island of Bermuda, it was instilled in one’s life to “Keep Bermuda Beautiful”. But I am concerned after reading the articles that the US Consulate posted a warning to US residents and tourists that the Island’s waters could be unsafe at times, depending on wind and weather conditions, and the Minister of Health and Environment, Trevor Moniz’s statement during a press conference about the safety of Paget beaches due to sewage, plus, given the limited resources that people have today, wanting to find a place to spend time relaxing and getting away from it all, and going to an exotic place.

These articles can cripple a business, since tourism is the mainstay for the Island, nothing will stop people from visiting. Not until they have sureties that it is safe or non-existent will they return — so please, Mr Moniz provide the surety.

DR DAN LIMA,

Indiana
