A woman stopped by officers for driving in an erratic manner in the early hours of Friday morning was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving.

According to a police spokesman, at around 2.49am officers were on mobile patrol near the junction of Church Street and Cedar Avenue when they saw a car being driven erratically down Church Street.

“The driver of the car was subsequently stopped and the officers noticed that her breath smelled of alcohol, her eyes were glazed over, and she was unsteady on her feet,” the spokesman said.

“The 33-year-old woman was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and taken to Hamilton Police Station where she failed the breath test, she was then process and detained.”
