Minister of Community, Culture and Sports Wayne Scott was recently presented with a book detailing the development of museums in the Caribbean — including the National Museum of Bermuda.

Historian Edward Harris, on behalf of the Barbados Museum and Historical Society, presented the Minister with a copy of ‘Plantation to Nation: Caribbean Museums and National Identity’, which was launched last month at the Barbados Museum.

“It is a pleasure to see this volume on the development of museums in the Caribbean region,” Mr Scott said. “I commend the group for being able to complete the publication.

“I know it is a challenge financially for heritage institutions to undertake publishing important historical research books. This is a significant documentation and an asset for the entire Caribbean region and we are grateful for their effort.”
