The Bermuda Football Association will make a second attempt to close out the 2013-14 season when the rescheduled FA Cup Final is played at the National Sports Centre tomorrow.

The match was called off last Sunday because of heavy rain and the threat of thunder and lightning, although the conditions did improve soon after the decision was made by the league and competitions committee.

North Village are aiming to become the joint most successful team in the history of the competition, seeking a win that would give them ten overall and tie them with PHC Zebras. Village finished second in the league to Town, who are seeking a third trophy of the campaign.

The last of Village’s FA Cup triumphs came in 2005-06 when they beat Dandy Town 4-1 after extra time, with Keishen Bean, then a teenager, netting twice in the second added period as Village completed the Triple Crown under coach Dwayne Adams.

Also in that Village team were Jemeiko Jennings, the present-day captain and the team’s senior player, and Tyrell Burgess. Brendon Minors, the Town captain, played for the Hornets that day.

The two teams last met in the FA Cup Final just two years ago, Town this time winning by a comfortable 5-2 margin to lift the trophy for the third time.

In two league meetings between the teams this season, the match at St John’s Field finished 2-2 last September before Town upstaged the Rams 3-1 at Bernard Park in January to maintain their hold on first place in the standings. Ronue Cann, the referee that day, will officiate in Sunday’s final.

Both Village and Town reached the final with 1-0 wins in the semi-finals at Wellington Oval on March 23, Jahron Dickinson scoring the Village goal against holders Devonshire Cougars in the eleventh minute, while goalkeeper Treadwell Gibbons’s second-half penalty eliminated Robin Hood.

Dickinson is looking forward to his first Cup Final with Village, having joined them this season from St George’s, but another new signing this season, goalkeeper Troy Hall Jr, will sit out the match having been sent off in Village’s final league match against Wolves.

Two other finals are scheduled for tomorrow, with Dandy Town meeting BAA Wanderers in the Player Development League Cup final at noon, when a number of the Island’s future stars could be on display.

At 2pm, St George’s Stallions playing Young Men’s Social Club in the Masters KO Cup final, which will features players over the age of 35. The main event is scheduled for a 4pm start.
