Mary Outerbridge event takes centre stage

A one-day round-robin junior tennis tournament will take place today at two facilities to celebrate the 140th anniversary of Mary Outerbridge taking the game of tennis from Bermuda to the United States.

Global Arts Youth Initiatives Foundation, together with the Ministry of Community, Culture and Sports, is putting on the Mary Outerbridge Sportsmanship Tournament at the WER Joell Tennis Stadium and Harmony Hall. Youngsters aged 6 to 9 will participate at Harmony Hall and those from 10 to 16 will be at the Tennis Stadium.

Play at both venues will begin at 9am with the finals scheduled for 5pm. The theme of the tournament is sportsmanship and in between matches there will be kite flying, cross-training ball games and Easter egg hunts for the youngsters.
