We should be given an apology

21 April 2014

Dear Sir,

The United States of America via the US Consul General here on the Island, (Mr Robert Settje) have been lately commenting on the pollution floating up on a few of our hundreds of beaches, claiming it’s “hospital waste amongst other heath risk particles coming from KEMH and the sewage lines of Hamilton City”.

This has been proven to be non-harmful to human or animal life yet it’s a threat to one of the Islands main sources of income, i.e. tourism. How can the USA discredit our Island while simultaneously polluting the world with chemicals? If not mistaken, (and I’m sure I’m not) the USA left bases here on our Island filthy, with discarded oil and Lord knows what other chemicals threatening our present and future generations.

I do further believe he, USA Consul, Mr Robert Settje, needs to apologise to us, the people of Bermuda. He must state the facts about the notice sent out via his Govt as being incorrect and should / need be disregarded.
