A multi-purpose sports court in St George’s is set to formally open next month following a successful fundraising campaign.

The court, erected for students at St George’s Preparatory School, was completed earlier this year following a drive to raise $100,000 in funding.

PTA president Marlo Santiago said: “I can now report that, thanks to proceeds from our raffles, Community Fun Day and Olympiad last year and donations from private individuals, Bermuda Island Challenge, Orbis Investment, Partner Re, KPMG, RenRe and a generous donation from Hannover Life Re we have completed our sports court.

“Ground was broken over the summer last year and the court finally finished in February of this year. We decided to have the Official Opening at the Olympiad, to mark the one year anniversary of the event that started it all.”

This year’s Olympiad and Community Fun Day will be held at the school on Saturday, May 10.
