Dage Minors, the Carifta Games bronze medal-winner, has backed himself to produce the goods at the Northeast-10 Conference Championships in Easton, Massachusetts, this weekend.

Minors made a quick return to action last weekend for his Franklin Pierce University team at the Penn Relays — the oldest and largest athletics meet in the United States — after almost collapsing from high blood pressure when in the bronze-medal position in the 5,000 metres at the Carifta Games in Martinique this month.

Minors had earlier claimed the bronze medal in the boys’ under-20 1,500 in his final appearance at the Games. In last weekend’s Relays, Minors delivered a strong performance in the 4?x?400 relay with his team posted a time of 3min 23.68sec, finishing 67th out of 89 teams in the field, and sixth in the Northeast-10 Conference.

“It felt good to be back on the track,” Minors said. “I was tired this weekend due to the Games and all the travelling involved.”

Minors will compete in the 1,500 and 4?x?800 relay on Friday night along with the 800 on Saturday at this weekend’s Championships.

“Racing over the weekend got me back into the swing of running,” he said.

“My goal in the 1,500 is to win that event. The same goes for myself in the 800, I would love to win that as well.”
