Husband of Bermudian actress lands Star Wars role

The husband of a Bermudian actress will be playing a starring role in the latest big budget Star Wars sequel.

After marrying longtime Bermudian girlfriend Joanna Tucker in a private ceremony in Somerset last summer, Adam Driver, who rose to prominence playing the eponymous role of Adam Sackler in the HBO show Girls, was named among five other cast members by director JJ Abrams on Tuesday.

While the super-secretive Mr Abrams has yet to announce what roles the cast will fill in the $200 million sequel, it has been widely reported Mr Driver will be playing a “Darth Vader-like” villain in the new film series, which picks up where 1983’s Return of the Jedi left off.

The 30-year-old supposedly edged out A-list names like Michael Fassbender and Hugo Weaving, who had also been linked with the main villain role.

The new Star Wars film is scheduled to be released in December 2015.
