New fees for waste disposal at the Marsh Folly composting facility and the airport dump will come into effect on July 1.

The cost of unprocessed horticultural waste will be $80 per tonne at Marsh Folly, and $20 for chipped waste.

The airport dump will charge $30 per tonne for inert waste such as construction rubble, along with metals and “white goods” — washers, fridges and other large appliances.

Small appliances and air conditioners are recyclable, and should be taken free of charge to the Material Recovery Facility on weekdays, from 7.45am to 3.45pm.

Marsh Folly began issuing itemised invoices at the start of this month, which includes weight.

Companies using Marsh Folly will continue to be billed at $25 per load until July 1, however: the transition period is to allow truckers time to calculate weight-to-load to bill their customers.
