Celebrate e-book launch with music, poetry and art

An afternoon of song, poetry and art is in store at the launch and reading of The Lizard and The Rock E-book edition on Thursday, May 22nd. This will be at Bermuda National Library on Queen Street, with art activities for kids with artist Calix Smith from 4.30pm until 6pm at a cost of $10 per child. Ever wish you were more knowledgeable about wine but don’t know where to start? If so, go back to basics with a Wine Tasting 101 Class on Thursday, May 22nd. This will take place in the Paradise Lounge at the Jewel Hotel (formerly the Grape Bay Beach Hotel) and from 6pm until 8pm, knowledgeable experts will walk you through a tasting of five wines, different grape varietals, regions, glassware and load you up with facts. The cost is $55 per person, which includes the flight of five different wines with a delicious charcuterie sampling. The annual Bermuda Day Fete is back as Flag Invasion will be at The Docksider Pub and Restaurant on Saturday, May 24th. The fun starts at 9pm and will feature special guest Dr Jay de Soca Prince live from Toronto, as well as DJ Rusty G, D’General and DJ Chubb until 3am. Tickets are $20 in advance or more at the door. The Business and Professional Women’s Association of Bermuda (BPW Bermuda) will host a Lunch and Learn on Wills and Estate Planning at the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday, May 28th. From 1pm until 2pm, Appleby lawyers Vanessa Lovell-Schrum and Caljonah Smith will present and share vital information on essential estate planning tools. The first event of its kind in Bermuda, the 32sixtyfour Paddle Race Series consists of four races, with the first one on Sunday, June 1st. Race 1 will be from Shelly Bay Beach on June 1st, Race 2 will be from Fort St Catherine on Sunday, June 22nd, Race 3 will be from Clearwater Beach on Sunday, July 6th and Race 4 will be from Somerset Long Bay on Sunday, July 20th. Each event will have a mandatory skippers’ race meeting at 8.45am prior to the race at 9.15am. Participants can choose to enter the 14 foot, 12 foot 6, surfboard, prone or unlimited divisions in distances of 5K or 10K. Organised and hosted by the Bermuda National Gallery (BNG) Youth Council, the BNG Youth Film Festival showcases short films created by young Bermudians to support the artistic talents of our youth. This one day event on Saturday, June 7th will run from 12.30pm until 4.30pm in the Tradewinds Auditorium at BUEI. Each film is accompanied by a Q&A session with the film-makers with featured film-makers including Marquedelle Marq Rodriguez, Ethan Rogers, Brandon Franke, Isaiah Caisey and Keenan Bailey.
