Butterfield edges lower

Heavy trading in Butterfield Bank last week on the Bermuda Stock Exchange resulted in a one cent decline in the bank’s share price.

Butterfield closed the week at $1.99, down 0.5 percent, on the trading of 151,390 shares.

Ascendant Group Ltd, owner of electricity provider Belco, was the only stock to advance last week, gaining ten cents, or 1.3 percent, to close on $8.10, as 5,520 shares traded.

Telecommunications group KeyTech Ltd also traded, but remained on $4.95, as 4,300 shares changed hands.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index ended the week down 3.85 points, or 0.27 percent, at 1,423.69. Volume topped 162,000 shares, while turnover was more than $383,000.
