Police in call for witnesses to an assault in Hamilton

A 56-year-old man is recovering at home after being assaulted on the streets of Hamilton at 8.15pm on Tuesday.

Police said a suspect was in custody for the attack, which took place near the junction of Dundonald and Parliament Streets.

The victim, who had to be treated in hospital for the assault, declined to comment in detail while the matter is investigated, but told this newspaper he’d been attacked on Elliott Street.

Police have called for persons who were in the vicinity to help their investigation.
