Ex-Saltus student’s global honour

China girl: Danielle Lightbourn is to attend the 2014 Envision Global Forum on International Relations & Diplomacy

A Bermudian student has been picked to attend a major conference on international relations and diplomacy in China.

Danielle Lightbourn was picked from entries from the US and around the world after she shone at the Global Young Leaders Conference, held in Washington DC and New York three years ago.

Ms Lightbourn, who attended Saltus Grammar, left in 2012 to study for a business and management degree at the University of Worcester in the UK.

The conference, which starts tomorrow, is organised by Envision, which aims to help high-flying students develop leadership, career skills and educationally.

The conference will be held in the Chinese cities of Beijing, Xi’an and Shanghai.

Envision’s dean of academic affairs Dr Marguerite Regan said: “This is a significant professional development opportunity for college scholars to engage in new cultural experiences and enrich their knowledge of international affairs and diplomacy.

“Such cultural and international insights are in high demand, giving our alumni a competitive edge in the job market.”
